| The Centre for Transgressive Behaviors is a performance art group that started in Raleigh and has since moved with one of its founders to Sweden. This is the first site I designed (in June 2000), which I volunteered to do in order to gain experience. The current design is somewhat different than the original, though the orange brain has been a static feature. The splash page, above, is in place so that I could keep the known URL but store the bulk of the site on my own server. | The home page. The eye, nose, mouth, finger, and foot, which were taken from an old medical book, were also present in the original design. When the mouse is dragged over each image, part of the image turns yellow and a description of the link pops up (as shown above, with the finger). The rectangle on the right is used as a space to announce upcoming shows and recent changes to the site. The orange brain background is one large picture I manipulated in Photoshop. I chose to use a brain to underscore the term "transgressive behaviors." | The interior pages look pretty consistently like the "About Us" page above. The navigation bar is composed thumbnails of the primary navigation images that enflame when the mouse is dragged over them. The group gave me a lot of autonomy in designing the site; I wanted to come up with something that was clean and professional yet showed how eccentric the group is. | The above page is an example of a typical photos page on the site. As on the photos pages of lisawhiteman.com, I used thumbnails images that sampled the larger picture, rather than just using a small version of it. | |
